The quarries for the Tan Granite family are situated in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Approximately six quarries are located in the Grimnegal region. Similar stones are available in the surrounding markets, such as: Gemstone Brown (also known as Tan Red Brown), Gemstone Blue, Chocolate Brown, and Coffee Brown. All these may be classified as part of the 'Tan Granite Family'. Additionally, there are varieties like Galaxy White and Steel Grey. In geological terms, these belong to the porphyry family of stones, containing crystalline material and occurring in extensive mining areas.

Currently, approximately fifty quarries produce Gemstone Brown, Chocolate Brown, and Coffee Brown granite. Each quarry yields between 700 and 1,000 cubic metres, with total monthly production reaching 10,000 to 15,000 cubic metres. Consequently, this stone is also acclaimed as the most abundantly quarried variety. Owing to its substantial demand, the number of quarries extracting this material continues to increase. Each quarry employs between 100 and 200 workers, meaning this extraction industry provides employment and livelihoods for approximately 7,000 to 10,000 individuals.
